It serves as a plasticizer, an effective extractant of aromatic substances in reforming processes. Diethylene glycol is used as a gas desiccant, as a main component of antifreeze, hydraulic and hydraulic brake fluids, and as a solvent for cellulose nitrates and polyester resins.
