Used as an additive for drilling fluids (reduces filtration and increases the viscosity of drilling fluids). In the food industry as a stabilizer, thickener, filler. In ceramic production it acts as a thickener, plasticizer and binding agent, also improving the smoothness of enamel. CMC is also used as a thickener for emulsion paints, acts as a plasticizer and delays setting time, as an adjuvant for powder paints, leveling compounds and cementitious mortars, and is also used in the manufacture of wallpaper adhesives. Widely used in construction as various adhesive components of dry building mixtures (wallpaper adhesive, finishing and super-finishing putties, plasters, waterproofing components for concrete).
